Participants will gain an understanding of the project processes and constraints encountered by project managers and how to successfully manage a complex project. \nAt the end of the course participants will be able to: \n• Understand the importance of project planning \n• Understand the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK 5th Ed) \n• Use the appropriate CCDC/CCA contract and/or Purchase Orders for the project \n• Use risk management tools and mitigate for risk \n• Understand the estimating process \n• Understand the importance of scheduling and use appropriate scheduling tools \n• Understand expectations management and adapt communication accordingly \n• Understand the components of projects – labour\, materials and overheads – and use of techniques to maximize job profitability and minimize costs \n• Do post-mortem analysis after project completion \n• Understand the impact and methodology of construction cost control \n• Use of site and office project cost control methods \n• Use Construction Industry Codes to analyse costs vs budget \n• Adapt the project estimate to a project budget \n• Understand how job costing fits within the overall accounting systems \n• Understand Return on Investment (ROI) and how this impacts required project profit margins \n• Understand the contract process from bidding to project close-out \n• Use of job profit forecasting methods to integrate into company forecasting systems \n• Understand the importance of cash flow projections for construction companies \n Register Now!

This course is required to become a certified R-2000* or ENERGYSTAR® builder\, and the suggested course for participating in the EnerGuide for New Homes and Built Green® programs.\n\n\n\nCurrent science behind building quality\, energy efficient homes\nTaught by Certified Energy Advisors\nCompulsory for R-2000 and ENERGYSTAR® builders\nAdvanced framing techniques and ventilation solutions that save money\nIncludes a copy of the CHBA Builders’ Manual to have at your fingertips/on the job\n\n\n*EnerGuide\, ENERGYSTAR® and R-2000 are official marks of Natural Resources Canada and used with permission.\n \nDuration:\nTwo-days in-class session (no online module)\n \nMaterials:\nCHBA Builders’ Manual\nBinder: “Building Science for New Homes”\n \nCost:\nCHBA BC Member $699.00\nNon-Member $899.00\n\n \nCourse Format:\nParticipants receive the course materials at the seminar and spend two days in classroom instruction. There is no online component for this course.\n\n \nExamination:\nAn in-class\, open book exam is written in the afternoon and is marked by the instructor. A pass mark of 80% is required to be successful in the course. If a mark between 65-79% is achieved\, a fee ($60 plus tax) is charged to re-write. A candidate is given the opportunity to re-write a maximum of two (2) times before having to retake the course.
