SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Construction\, Excavation and Demolition involving Hazardous Building Materials
DESCRIPTION:Section 20.112 of the OHS Regulation was amended to require additional information during hazardous materials surveys. The upcoming breakfast session will provide an opportunity to learn more about these changes and how they can impact your scope of work under renovation and demolition projects involving these materials. \nThe process of sampling building materials to test for hazardous substances may seem straight forward\, but it is often done incorrectly producing misleading or false results. SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Managing Risk and Disputes in Construction Projects
DESCRIPTION:Risk is a key feature of every construction project. The essence of the ability to reduce the frequency and severity of claims is the identification of these construction project risk factors and dealing with them and/or providing for them in the construction and design contracts and in the administration of these contracts. Having contractual provisions and strategies in place for how to handle risks and/or disputes if they do arise\, is a key component of a successful project. \nThis seminar will provide some practical advice on how to manage risks and strategies for dealing with disputes. \nCourse Outline: \nAn overview of the most frequently encountered construction claims/disputes\nTips for avoiding claims before they happen\nTips for keeping the situation from escalating too far\nWays to minimize exposure if claims are made\nA discussion of alternative dispute resolution methods \nPresenter: An Associate Counsel with SHK Law Corp.\, Marc MacEwing has practiced extensively as a construction lawyer in all aspects of the practice for over 30 years. He has particular expertise as a builders lien lawyer\, as well as in tendering disputes and preparing and analyzing contract documents. Marc advises owners\, contractors\, subcontractors\, material suppliers and design professionals. \nMarc has been listed in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory as a “repeatedly recommended” leading practitioner in construction law in BC. He has been Peer Review Rated for General Ethical Standards and Legal Ability by LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell® and included in The Best Lawyers in Canada®. \nIn addition to authoring more than 175 published articles on construction law topics\, Marc is a member of the editorial board and a contributor to the Continuing Legal Education Society’s British Columbia Builders Liens Practice Manual. Marc is a frequent lecturer to design professional and construction trade bodies\, businesses\, and educational institutions. \nMarc is also a Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers. \nWebinar time: 11:00am – 12:30pm Pacific Standard Time (PST) \n Register Now!
