Responsibilities of Joint Health and Safety Committees – Fort St John

On April 3, 2017, changes to the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation regarding joint health and safety committees and worker health and safety representatives took effect. All new joint committee members selected on or after April 3, 2017 must receive eight hours of training.
This course will help participants fulfill the new requirement.

- Use of WorkSafe OHS Regulation;
- Joint Health and Safety committee and workers representatives;
- OHS Program;
- Safety Inspections;
- Incident investigations;
- Refusal of unsafe work;
- How to work as a committee;
- Different types of recommendations; and
- Hazard management.
Instructor: Roger Regehr Cert. OHS, is founder and President of Regehr Workplace Safety Solutions and is a professional Occupational Health and Safety consultant who also has many years of industrial work experience. Roger graduated from BCIT with a Certificate of Occupational Health & Safety. Roger’s experience includes 15 years in occupational health and safety, 5 of these as the Production Supervisor and Health and Safety Manager at a medium sized sawmill. It was here that Roger gained expertise in balancing health and safety with production needs. Roger’s years of experience as a Health and Safety Manager for a multi-national industrial corporation, also provided him with an extensive understanding of corporate industrial health and safety systems, office ergonomics, and Canadian and American occupational health and safety legislative requirements.
